April 18, 2020Bhaskar Chakravorti is the current Dean of Global Business at The Fletcher School at Tufts University and founding Executive Director of Fletcher’s Institute for Business in the Global Context. He is the author of The Slow Pace of Fast Change.
Many years ago, as a Harvard Business School Professor, Dr. Chakravorti presented a lecture that rings true even today. The title of the lecture: “Let No Serious Crisis Go To Waste”
We are living and working through seriously unexpected circumstances – not just unexpected, but generally unimaginable. These circumstances came upon our lives with such speed – unbelievable speed – and significant power. While we are making adjustments to manage the impact the crisis has on our lives and the lives of those we impact, it is important that we stay strong, don’t give in to fear, and use the time and situation to make changes that this might allow – so as we move forward, we leapfrog to new opportunities, new thinking, new services, new plans and even new businesses!
Stay safe, stay healthy. Stay communicating with your staff, your patients, your standard referral sources. Start communicating with your new opportunities!! When this medical crisis passes, it is expected that we will see a flood of patients in need of therapy – patients who delayed their surgeries and other treatments for pain and dysfunction.
BE READY!
